Throwback Thursday – Nymeria is making progress!

Today marks exactly 6 months since Nymeria has been here and she’s made a lot of progress! She is still very weary of strangers, especially men but she loves all the humans at her daycare and she is slowly warming up to Uncle Erik and Wilhelmina’s hudad.

Back in March when my Auntie was visiting, Nymeria made a huge breakthrough with her! She let my Auntie pet her and give her treats but the biggest thing of all was…She started playing with her! My Auntie was so happy and so were we!

It was a shame that Auntie didn’t visit for very long, she was only here for a week. Nymeria warmed up to her the last day before Auntie went back to Boston.

Hopefully when Auntie comes back in the summer time Nymeria will remember back to this visit and warm up to her again!

Throwback Thursday – New Toy!

Happy Thursday everyone! These past few weeks have been quite busy for us!

The first couple of weeks I had to lay low because we found out that I have mild hip and elbow displaysia 😦

As you know, laying low and resting are not in my vocabulary!! I was pretty bummed about the news until….

….My Auntie came to visit! She’s my favorite Auntie in the whole wide world!!!! I just can’t help it when I see her I just go crazy!

This time she had a surprise for me!

She made me a couple of rope toys! She used some of her old t-shirts and magically turned it into a tug toy!!  It was perfect timing since my humom couldn’t take me out to run off my energy, this was a great way to tire me out!

Auntie and I tested it out and it was a lot of fun!

Play with me mom!

And of course, the obligatory pose with my new toys…sigh…

Thank you Auntie for my new toys! I love them so much!

Do you guys like to play with rope or tug toys?

Throwback Thursday – Christmas Holidays

Since it’s Thursday, I thought I should throw it back to the holidays and share a bit of what we did!

This was our Christmas tree! It was my very first Christmas tree! (We didn’t have one last year because I was too scared of them).

This year though, we had a couple of very special decorations. Instead of putting a star on top, my humom put a beautiful little snow owl in memory of my Angel brother Keiko.

She also got a special Christmas ornament with his name on it.

I supervised the whole thing, making sure all the decorations were in the right place. I had to take a nap afterwards, it’s very tiring being a supervisor!

The best part of the holidays is when my FAVORITE AUNTIE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD comes to visit! She’s my humom’s younger sister. I did an intro post about her last year, you can read it here.

We always have so much fun together, this one time she took me to the beach to play fetch! If you missed that post, you can read it here!

I love sitting on Auntie’s lap! (I’m in denial that I’m too big to be a lap dog)

When she visits, she always stays at the parents’ house. I wish she could stay with us but our apartment isn’t big enough. My humom’s parents’ house is REALLY BIG! but…us dogs are only allowed in the kitchen.

This would be the first time Nymeria would meet my humom’s whole family. She even met my humom’s brother, wife and son! They were visiting from Hawaii and my humom said she did very well. She was a little nervous but she sat quietly behind Humom. Unfortunately we didn’t get any photos, Humom forgot to take some!

While the humans were waiting for the food to be ready, I was watching my Auntie make this little fluffy ball thingy for her dad’s knitted hat (she knitted him a hat for Christmas!) I thought it was a toy so I kept staring at it, waiting for Auntie to give it to me. I think she called it a “pom-pom” or something. She ended making me one but it didn’t last very long…

Nymeria whined a little bit throughout the night, but I tried to comfort her like a good big sister! Humom was very proud of me. 🙂

Eventually she was able to relax and took a nap while the humans were eating.

After dinner, my humom’s dad took out this weird contraption called a “oo-ka-lee-lee”. It plays music when you touch the strings.

My Auntie serenaded me with it later on in the night!

As you can see I enjoyed it very much!

My humom knew that it was time to go home when I jumped into her lap to sleep.

I can’t wait until my Auntie comes back to visit! I think my humom said she will be back during broken Spring? I don’t really know what that means…how do you break Spring? Something about my Auntie not having to go to class for a week so she’s going to come home to celebrate my humom’s birthday!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Throwback Thursday!

Hi guys! Nymeria here! Mia was nice enough to let me do a Throwback Thursday post since I haven’t done one yet!

As you know, my humom adopted me from Spain. I was already about 8 months when I was flown to Canada so she missed out on my little puppy stage. The rescue guessed that I was about 3 months when they found me so my estimated birthday is sometime in March of this year!

Look how tiny I was!

They found me with a male galgo. They suspect that he could be my father but no one knows for sure! He was very timid and shy when we came into the shelter but I was a little firecracker! When they found us, I was very friendly and greeted everyone with tail wags and back flips!

I was always ready to play! I hope my galgo friend eventually found a furever home.

Even at this early age I was already into tennis balls! Mia better watch out! She’s got competition!

Here’s a little short video they took of me!

I have such a wonderful life now and I am so thankful for my new family and friends. I hope all my Scooby friends back in Spain will find furever homes too.

I’m still getting the hang of things here in Vancouver. I’m still weary of strangers especially men but I’m sure I’ll come around someday. Just not yet. Mia and I are starting to play a little bit more together and I’ve made some wonderful new friends like my fellow galga Avalon! Isn’t she beautiful?

I will always be grateful for the wonderful people that took me in and saved me from the streets but I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life. Everyday is a new adventure! Thanks for reading! Come back soon for more updates! 🙂

Throwback Thursday – My first winter!

With the hot weather here in Vancouver, I thought I would throw it back to my first winter last year! You know…just to cool things down a bit! 😉 We had an unusually long winter, and it typically doesn’t snow as much as it did! We still had snow in April! It was crazy!

My humom remembers the first time I actually saw snow outside and took a video. If you listen closely, I actually growled at it! BOL! I apologize for the shaky camera, my humom needs to work on her video filming skills!

Once I found out how tasty snow was, I realized it wasn’t that bad! It was actually quite a lot of fun!!!

IMG_3445

Of course, any snowy adventure wouldn’t be an adventure without my bestie Wilhelmina!

IMG_1370

Oops! I can’t forget Duffy!

Naturally, our humoms always find opportunities to dress us up.  We’re always the best dressed of the forest!

Mia: Ummm…Wilhelmina? Weren’t you wearing a jacket when we first started our trail walk? Where did it go??

Wilhelmina: Meh…I feel more free this way! You should try Mia!

Mia: Hmmm…I’m not as free spirited as you Wilhelmina! How about this?…

IMG_1564

IMG_1472

Wilhelmina didn’t look impressed…

Mia: How about climbing this big rock?? Is this impressive?

Do you guys miss the snow?

Have a great day everyone! Thanks for visiting!

Flashback Friday – Meet Molly

A couple of weeks ago I introduced you to my friend Duke. This week I would like to introduce you to my pawddy Molly!

The last time we saw each other was over a year ago as well! We met through Instagram! Molly’s human messaged my humom to see if we wanted to meet and play together! He thought that maybe I would get along with Molly since Molly can be selective with who she plays with.

Molly is a special girl because she only has 3 legs! While it’s unknown to her hudad how she lost her leg, it sure doesn’t stop her from having lots of adventures! You should check out her Instagram page! She has a really exciting life and I am very happy for her. She went through 3 different homes before finding her forever home with her hudad.

IMG_0088

I was 6 months old in this picture. My ears were still too big for my head! BOL!

Molly’s hudad was really afraid that we wouldn’t get along but we got along great! We sounded like two piggies wrestling because we both snorted a lot. They nicknamed us Piggy and Piglet.

My humom just recently contacted Molly’s hudad to see if we wanted a Piggies reunion and he said yes! I can’t wait to see Molly again! I’ll be sure to post some new pics!

Thanks for visiting, come again soon!

Throwback Thursday – Meet Duke!

Happy Thursday Friends! I haven’t done a throwback in a while so I’m going to throw it back to early last spring when I was a few months old!

IMG_9064

Do I look like a little bunny here? That’s what Wilhelmina’s humom likes to call me sometimes because I have such big ears! I was such a small puppy back then!

Way back before I met Wilhelmina, I used to play with a puppy named Duke! He’s a month younger than me. Isn’t he so handsome? His humans think he’s a mix between a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Mastiff.

He is much bigger than me but he was always very gentle when we played together.

IMG_9047

I haven’t seen him for more than 6 months now. There was an incident where he chased after a car and he dragged down his human. She broke her leg and arm and took a while to recover. Since then, Duke hasn’t been able to be out off leash in public, he gets very nervous around dogs and strangers. It was a very traumatic incident for him.

(This photo was taken just a couple of weeks before the incident)

We visited him once at his house and we had a good time running around in his backyard. I hope he is doing okay, we miss him a lot!

Throwback Thursday – Caption This!

This is one of my humom’s favorite photos of Keiko. They went to a Shiba Inu Meetup a lonnnng time ago in Keiko’s younger years. He was around 4 years old at this time so this photo was taken sometime in 2008.

IMG_6100

This photo definitely gave me a good laugh! Hope it made you laugh too! 🙂

Help me caption this photo! Share it in the comments!

Throwback Thursday

It’s another Throwback Thursday but I thought I would share the limelight today and go back to when it was just my humom and my furbrother Keiko. I’m usually not this generous because I like to be the center of attention pretty much ALL THE TIME…but hey…I guess you could say I’m maturing a bit??…NAHHH who are we kidding???

Ok ok…back to Keiko….look at this little dude! What cute little furball…my humom got him when he was 4 months old wayyyy back in 2004.

IMG_8075

Unfortunately back then she didn’t have a very good camera or cell phone camera so she doesn’t have as many puppy pictures of Keiko as she does now with me!

IMG_0135

What a happy little pup! He was 6 months in this photo! So fluffy!

Keiko’s favorite pastime is napping in the sun.

IMG_0300

My humom says he was a very mischievous little boy. He was always doing something he wasn’t supposed to be doing…like digging in the garden or hopping onto the rocks in the pond or escaping from the backyard. But she said he never chewed on furniture or shoes or delicious paper in the garbage like I did…he doesn’t know what he’s missing out on!

Keiko is very popular with my humom’s friends. So popular in fact that he was asked to be the ring bearer at a friend’s wedding! Doesn’t he look so handsome?

IMG_1526

IMG_1527

Can you believe he’s 13 years old??? Lookin’ good old man!

IMG_3153

He doesn’t have the energy to come with us and Wilhelmina on our forest walks anymore. I think he prefers to rest at home where its nice and quiet. I let him snuggle with my toys. 🙂

IMG_3652

Well, that’s all for now! Thanks for visiting! Hope you liked learning a little bit about my furbrother! Come visit again soon!

Throwback Thursday!

Time for a throwback! For my first throwback thursday post I’m going to go back to my puppy days! Boy was I tiny! I was only 5 lbs when my humom first got me (at 9 weeks). My humom always says how much she misses my puppy days when I would tire out really fast and sleep but she sure doesn’t miss the potty training!

IMG_7889

Just look at those “innocent” eyes….

IMG_7912

I was so cute she couldn’t resist letting me sit in the front seat! I’m too big now so I have to sit in the back 😦 but I guess it’s for my own safety!

IMG_7822

Being a puppy sure is hard work! Time for a nap!

Thanks for visiting! Come back soon! 🙂
