Hi Furiends!! Guess what my humom got me!…a doggy backpack! She says with these short winter days coming, it’s too dark to go into the woods after my humom gets home from work. If we were to walk around the neighborhood it wouldn’t tire me out enough. That’s when she thought maybe a backpack would help!
She found this RuffWear Singletrak Pak at the pet food store and thought it was a good fit for me.
It even comes with two water packs (one on each side).
My humom was so proud of me because I wasn’t bothered by the swooshing of the water while I was walking.
We took a walk on a new path that the City of Vancouver had recently built called the Arbutus Greenway. It used to be old railroad tracks but they turned it into a paved walkway for locals to enjoy whether it was a nice stroll through the city, or a bike ride or jogging!
This is what part of it used to look like!
And now it looks like this:
There’s still some more construction that needs to be completed like at intersections of crossroads so that pedestrians can cross safely but lots of people are already using it.
Mia: Okay Mom, I’m ready to go!
Along the path there are many community gardens so it was nice being able to sniff all the greenery. I didn’t like the weird people standing there staring at me though. I think they were called something like scare-dey crows?? They didn’t look like scared crows to me. I growled at them to let them know they didn’t scare me!
My humom wanted to stop and take a picture of this flower. She thought it was a really pretty pink color and it stood out from the rest. As you can see I was not that impressed.
Mia: Can I eat it now?
We walked for quite some time, my humom was hoping I would get tired by the time we got back to the car. Fat chance of that!
With Auntie visiting us right now, my humom has been spending lots of time with her and their parents. Whenever there has been low tide, my humom will also invite Auntie to come since she doesn’t get to see low tide where she lives in Boston.
She wasn’t impressed with me jumping on her though…
As if it wasn’t exciting enough that Auntie was coming with us again to the beach, my humom GOT ME A NEW TOY!!!!! I think she called it a Frizz-bee. I don’t know why it’s called that it looks nothing like a frizzy bee? Nonetheless, it was super fun!
I’m still trying to get the hang of it. I think the goal is for me to catch it while it’s still in the air. The wind makes it trickier too.
I still had lots of fun chasing it and running around in the water with it though! There were lots of dogs at the beach too that wanted to play with it! But I’m not very good at sharing toys, especially new ones so I just teased them all with it and got them to chase me.
I was having so much fun I didn’t want to go home!
When we got home my humom hoped that she could get some work done but I had other plans…hee hee
Doesn’t she know that treat toys are much more fun on humans’ laps?? Naps are way better too that way!
Happy Thursday Friends! I haven’t done a throwback in a while so I’m going to throw it back to early last spring when I was a few months old!
Do I look like a little bunny here? That’s what Wilhelmina’s humom likes to call me sometimes because I have such big ears! I was such a small puppy back then!
Way back before I met Wilhelmina, I used to play with a puppy named Duke! He’s a month younger than me. Isn’t he so handsome? His humans think he’s a mix between a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Mastiff.
He is much bigger than me but he was always very gentle when we played together.
I haven’t seen him for more than 6 months now. There was an incident where he chased after a car and he dragged down his human. She broke her leg and arm and took a while to recover. Since then, Duke hasn’t been able to be out off leash in public, he gets very nervous around dogs and strangers. It was a very traumatic incident for him.
(This photo was taken just a couple of weeks before the incident)
We visited him once at his house and we had a good time running around in his backyard. I hope he is doing okay, we miss him a lot!
Hello friends…*sad face*…I am having a not so fun weekend…during one of our trail runs I somehow managed to chip part of my toe nail!
How did it happen? Well, I like to play a game with my humom called “Find the Stump” where I will look for a stump, jump on top of it and I get a treat! I play this game with Wilhelmina too, it’s her humom that told us about this game!
Mia: Where’s my treat?!?!
Well, if you ever meet me, you will see that I love food, and I will do almost anything for food! There was this really tall stump that I usually have NO PROBLEMS climbing but this one time for some reason I got stuck half way. I tried my HARDEST TO HOLD ON (because I really wanted the treat) but alas…I couldn’t pull myself up to the top and I fell awkwardly. My toe nail must have somehow caught onto the wood and it ripped a little.
I didn’t show any signs of pain or discomfort until that night when I was on the bed ready for sleepytime. At first my humom thought I pulled a muscle (again). *side note: I pulled a leg muscle a couple of weeks ago from running too hard on the beach with Auntie*
I was being very needy and asking for lots of attention all afternoon and night.
Mia: Mom, stop playing on your iPad and cuddle with me
When my humom looked closer, it was indeed my nail that was damaged.
We went to see the vet right away. My humom was expecting the worse but fortunately the vet said the damage wasn’t too bad! She just clipped the hanging nail part off and then cleaned my foot.
Hooray! No sedation! My humom has to soak my foot in a pink solution 2-3 times a day for 5-10 minutes for the next few days. My humom is not looking forward to it because she knows I won’t make it easy for her. Boy does she know me well! BOL!
Lucky for her I love my food and I can be easily bribed.
My humom was hoping she could clean it for longer than 5 mins but hello???? Does she not realize that 5 mins really feels like 5 YEARS in dog life????
The vet also said no beach or trails for 5 days!!! Is she crazy???
So now my humom has to get creative and find ways to keep me busy indoors. Good luck with that! BOL!
One of my favorite toys is my Kong Wobbler. But it doesn’t keep me occupied for very long because I can get those treats out pretty easily with my special whacking skills!
I recently got a new treat toy, I don’t know what it’s called but it’s pretty tricky! I think my humom got it on purpose because she thought it would be a hard challenge for me.
I kept trying and trying…
Mia: Um….excuse me, a little space here? I need to get this treat out!
But eventually I GOT IT!!!!!!! TAH DAH!!!!! My humom isn’t very impressed with this toy. She was told I would be occupied for HOURS! Well humans, you have underestimated me! BOL!
Mia: So…What’s next Mom??
